ASCPT Webinar: An Introduction to Causal Inference for Pharmacometricians

May 18, 2023 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Event Navigation

James A. Rogers, PhD will be presenting a webinar for American Society for Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics (ASCPT)

This presentation is intended to foster a few basic intuitions related to causal inference, and to suggest some of the ways that causal inference concepts can ensure adequate planning (prior to analyses) and valid interpretation (after analyses). We will review an example provided in the paper involving interpretation of covariate effects for correlated covariates in a population pharmacokinetic model.

Learning objectives:
1. To be able to describe what causal inference is.
2. To have a basic understanding of the “inputs and outputs” of directed acyclic graphs (DAGs).
3. To be able to describe why causal inference is important in many problems involving evidence integration and/or extrapolation, including in pharmacometrics.
