Help Shape the Future of Scientific Computing
Metrum Research Group is looking for an entrepreneurial Director of Business Development with deep expertise in modeling and simulation (M&S) and a strong understanding of modern technology to help accelerate adoption of Metworx—our next-generation platform for intelligent, compliant, and collaborative scientific computing.
This is not a traditional sales role. You’ll serve as a trusted advisor and strategic partner, guiding clients through how Metworx can transform their R&D workflows, reduce time to insight, and scale scientific computing across global teams. You’ll collaborate closely with scientists, modelers, and IT decision-makers to drive lasting engagement and long-term growth.
Total compensation range is $180K–$230K base salary and an 8% performance-based bonus.
Responsibilities:
- Partner closely with the TS client relationship coordinators (CRCs) to drive the full sales cycle from lead generation to deal closure.
- Engage prospective clients across pharma, biotech, and CROs, particularly teams focused on PK/PD, QSP, pharmacometrics, and biostatistics.
- Translate client needs into tailored value propositions for the Metworx platform.
- Articulate how Metworx supports GxP-compliant, AI/ML-enabled, and tool-flexible scientific computing.
- Demonstrate platform capabilities in a consultative, customer-relevant way.
- Collaborate with product, solutions, and customer success teams to ensure smooth technical handoffs and onboarding.
- Identify and cultivate new customer segments and partnership opportunities.
- Provide feedback from the field to inform product roadmap and marketing strategy.
- Represent the company at industry conferences, webinars, and customer forums.
Qualifications:
- 10+ years in business development, sales, or customer-facing roles
- Background in modeling and simulation, pharmacometrics, or quantitative drug development is required
- Prior experience selling or supporting SaaS platforms, cloud services, or data science infrastructure is strongly preferred
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for innovation and impact
- Ability to build relationships with scientific, technical, and business audiences
- Strong communicator who can simplify complex technical value into business outcomes
- Self-starter who thrives in fast-paced, cross-functional environments
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a highly capable team
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with platforms like NONMEM, Monolix, Stan, or R/Python in regulated settings
- Familiarity with cloud-native infrastructure (e.g., AWS, GCP) or scientific computing tools
- Exposure to GxP or 21 CFR Part 11 requirements
Education and Experience:
A 4-year college degree (technical or quantitative science) or equivalent work experience with evidence of proficiency and achievement in software engineering, infrastructure management and programming languages. Additional training, certification, and/or experience in virtualized infrastructure-related tasks is preferred.
- Experience working in and across cross-disciplinary teams including engineering, systems administration, networking and security functions.
- Additional training and/or certification in virtualized infrastructure and information security are preferred.
Physical Demands
The job frequently requires working at a computer terminal, standing or sitting, and the ability to operate the computer with proficiency.
Work Environment
The work environment is quiet with no adverse conditions.
