Drive the Future of Scientific Innovation

We’re seeking a strategic, technically fluent Upstream Product Manager to help shape the future of our AI- and HPC-powered platform for scientific computing. In this pivotal role, you’ll work at the intersection of customer insight, emerging technology, and platform architecture; leading early-stage product strategy and influencing what we build next.

You’ll be instrumental in ensuring our platform meets the evolving needs of advanced users across life sciences, data science, and engineering. Your work will directly impact how scientists and researchers harness powerful computing to push the boundaries of discovery.

If you’re passionate about translating complex user needs into forward-thinking product direction, and excited by the challenges of high-performance, research-focused platforms, this is your opportunity to make a meaningful impact.

Responsibilities:

  • Own early-stage product discovery and upstream planning for platform capabilities related to HPC and AI/ML workloads.
  • Translate emerging customer needs into actionable platform requirements, grounded in deep technical and market understanding.
  • Identify and validate new market opportunities, use cases, and product expansion areas through voice of customer, market analysis, and competitive insights.
  • Partner closely with platform architects, engineering leads, and design teams to explore and prioritize what’s feasible, sustainable and impactful.
  • Serve as the “voice of the market” during early-stage platform roadmap planning and backlog grooming.
  • Collaborate with downstream product managers to ensure smooth handoff from vision to execution.
  • Drive product initiatives around compute orchestration, workload scheduling, data-intensive pipelines, and AI/ML tooling.
  • Anticipate and influence platform decisions around emerging technologies (e.g., GPUs, AI agents, LLM integrations, cloud-native scaling).
  • Stay abreast of trends in scientific computing, enterprise AI, and cloud HPC to inform strategic bets
  • Works in a cross-disciplinary manner to understand and address gaps or improvement opportunities across the organization
  • Provide technical representation in the business development process
  • Serve as key stakeholder in the coordination and planning of system architectures and support with the Platform Architect, Director of Systems and Security, Director of Engineering, Director of Product Manager and other key organizational stakeholders
  • Management of security, stability, observability, and demonstrated control of infrastructure
  • Works with management for ongoing improvements in operational management of infrastructure and associated costs
  • Responsible for the quality and timeliness of product deliverables
  • Engage with clients and internal stakeholders to assist in the design and development of products that meet the vision of the product
  • Please note: that this job description is not meant to be all-inclusive. Other duties may be assigned

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years in software/platform architecture, with 5+ years focused on HPC or large-scale compute environments.
  • 8+ years of product management experience, including 3+ years focused on platform or infrastructure products.
  • Proven success in upstream or strategic product roles, ideally in HPC, AI/ML, or scientific computing platforms.
  • Experience in a B2B, SaaS, or enterprise environment with technical users (e.g., data scientists, modelers, engineers).
  • Deep understanding of cloud-native architecture, containers (Docker), orchestration (Kubernetes), and job schedulers (e.g., Slurm, SGE, Argo, Airflow).
  • Familiarity with AI/ML toolchains and workflows (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, model lifecycle management).
  • Ability to evaluate and frame technical trade-offs with architects and engineering leaders.
  • Strong discovery, prioritization, and roadmap development capabilities
  • Confident communicator, skilled at simplifying complex concepts for diverse stakeholders
  • Exposure to LLMs, generative AI, or agent-based systems
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a highly capable team

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Background in life sciences, scientific computing, or bio/pharma R&D environments
  • Experience working with regulated environments or GxP requirements
  • Experience working on platforms used by AI scientists, pharmacometricians, or statistical modelers

Education and Experience:

4-year college degree (technical or quantitative science) or equivalent work experience with evidence of proficiency and achievement in software engineering, infrastructure management, and programming languages. Additional training, certification, and/or experience in virtualized infrastructure-related tasks is preferred.

  • Experience working in and across cross-disciplinary teams including engineering, systems administration, networking, and security functions.
